Are we born with a full supply of antibodies?

Scientists used to think so. But in one experiment, they injected an animal with a small amount of a new compound, rocket fuel, one it couldn't be expected to know about, and they soon found antibodies to the rocket fuel in the animal serum. So somehow the antibodies were being made on the spot.
