The Story of ENZYMES, and PKU disease.

Enzymes are proteins that make chemical reactions go.

The way they make things "go" is to fit so closely with another molecules that they force a change in a molecular shape. A molecule in its new changed shape is then able to interact and change yet one or more other molecules.

Chemists typically have to work for many hours to get certain chemical reactions to go quickly. Often they have to heat a set of molecules, or place them under pressure, or use strong acids.

How do living systems do it?
